I have the honour to forward for Your Lordship's consideration a copy of a memorandum by the Director of Public Works dealing with his pensionable salary. In consideration of Mr. Chatham's eminent services to this Goverment I consider that his request might reasonably be granted and I should be glad therefore of Your Lordship's approval of Mr. Chatham's personal allowance being incorporated in his salary and made

pensionable.
